Hanover art gallery changes name, logo
The Hanover Area Arts Guild is updating the name for its Carlisle Street Art Gallery to Art Downtown, according to a news release from the guild.
The change, which includes a new logo, is part of the preparation for the arts guild's 50th anniversary. The guild started as an association for artisans in Hanover in 1968.
The guild now has almost 200 members from Hanover, Adams County and northern Maryland, who participate in shows, sell their creations and take classes all at the gallery, according to the release.
Guild President Kim Asper said in the release that changing the name to Art Downtown better reflects what they do in the gallery at 32 Carlisle St. and emphasizes the members who specialize in fine crafts.
Some of those crafts include jewelry, fabric art and three dimensional art.
"Art Downtown is a great place to be," Asper said in the release.
The theme for May is red, white and blue, according to the release. The gallery will host a photography exhibit in June and July, where photos will sell for $99 and under. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
"We've seen the area getting stronger and more events bringing more people here," Asper said in the release.
She said the arts guild wants to be a part of that.
Art Downtown's hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
